Partition type 11 reported when it is type 7??

I am curious about why some of my older MBR tools report the main partition as type 11 (fat32) when it obviously is type 7 (ntfs) - see picture!  Or is it so that removable media has another set of partition types?  Are you using another formatting tool that a normal Windows format?  Please clarify!

Another partition on the same USB

Hope I may ask one more question (not a problem). I have learnt that Windows can only recognize one partition on removable media. But WinToUSB can create 2 partitions.  When I shrunk my Windows 10 installation to create space for cloning a Linux Kubuntu partition onto the same flash drive, I was later able to mount Kubuntu from Windows 10, (see end of https://youtu.be/l9MFxbUI_9Q ) Pls explain!

This seems to be an issue that I have not been able to conquer yet. Microsoft seem to have a restriction on updating Windows to Version 1607 Anniversary update with an external USB drive as system drive. Does anyone have any information on how to do this ?

kind regards

Martin

Black screen if Uefi boot to WinPE

hi,

first of all, thank you for that great tool!

my question does not directly concern WintoUSB but it´s hard related.

short version: if i want to boot different boot.wim (WinPE, Win Setup, Dart,) in UEFI Mode i get black screen, in BIOS Mode all is working great.

long version:

I was able to create an working Win10togo ssd, bootable in BIOS and UEFI mode.

The ssd looks like this: 30GB FAT32 Boot Partition and another 80GB NTFS Partion for System

In the next step i added an customized Win10 PE System, Win10 Setup and MS Dart10. The necessary files (boot.wim ect..) are copied to the FAT Boot Partition. The bcd was modified to boot this additional Tools.

The good thing is, all the other Tools are booting up and working in BIOS Mode, but not in UEFI.

If i try to boot in UEFI mode, i get the first message "loading files" after that the windows logo should appear, but i only get an black screen.

Nothing more happens, this is true for the Win10PE, Win10 Setup, MS Dart. Dodgy

The strange thing is, i have all this tools working on another thumb stick, with identical files.

Has anybody a good idea what the problem could be?

Hi I hava a MacBook Pro 13" Retina, Mid 2014 and I wanted to use WinToUSB with this.
I created both, a clone version of my Windows system and a fresh Win7 Pro system but both resulted in a bluescreen.

The Windows is starting but at one point there appears to be a problem.

I do not know what all the numbers and codes mean but maybe one of you can help me.

Thanks!

How can it be activated?

Thanks

Hi.
Whenever I create a WindowsToGO Stick out of my Win 10 Pro machine it is licensed as soon as it is online.
Is my Win10 license copied to the stick while creating it? Any chance to remove it to give the stick to colleagues so that they have to enter their own key?

Thank you very much!

Minimum USB Size for Windows 10

I am having issues getting my Windows to Go installed. I purchased the Professional software and I can install it on an external hard drive with no issues; however, I've tried both a 16GB and 32GB stick to install windows 10 and it keeps coming up with insufficient space, do I need more space than that? Most W10 installations are less than 16GB. Thank you.

Wintousb 3.4 skip partitioning scheme option

I have a Samsung Portable SSD T3 250GB, and having issue when trying to install Windows 10 on it from a Windows ISO.

My current OS is Windows 10.
The version of WinToUSB is: 3.4

This is the instructions I am trying to follow:
http://www.easyuefi.com/wintousb/faq/en_US/How-to-create-bootable-Windows-installation-USB.html

In step 7 it said:
"After you select the USB drive, a pop-up will appear asking you if you want to format it to continue, tick the "MBR for BIOS and UEFI" checkbox, then click "Yes"."

But I don't see the "partitioning scheme option" pop-up:

Instead it skip to step 9:

(The below image is from the original instructions, the image I see is without the little boot partitions on the right.)

Even the installation was successful but without create any boot partition.

Thanks! Smile

Windows 7 on fast USB3

licensing question

Hello,

I’m using Win2USB to create a bootable version of Windows 10 on a USB flash drive. And I had a question about Windows 10 licensing.

If I use the bootable USB drive to launch and run Windows 10 on multiple computers, do I need a Windows 10 license for each computer? Or do I just need a single Windows license for the bootable Win2USB version of Windows 10? Also, is there a difference in Windows 10 licensing issues among the free, professional, and enterprise versions of Win2USB?

Thank you for you help on this.

Upgrade Win 8.1 to 10: Error 0x8007001f

Hello,

When trying to upgrade from Windows 8.1 to 10, I get a window saying "Something went wrong" with the error code 0x8007001f.

When I press retry, I run through an install while stil in Windows 8.1 but then I get an error on the Windows 10 setup window that says
"Sorry, we're having trouble determining if your PC can run Windows 10. Please close Setup and try again.

Does this have to do with the fact that my USB drive is a removable drive rather than a fixed/local one?

Unsupported File System

Am Attempting to install from an ISO image to a Samsung 128 GB Evo Plus Micro SD. Have already succeeded with a San Disk 32 GB Micro SD but now only get Unsupported File system.(0x0570009004590000) error. Have tried pre formatting to FAT32 and NFTS. Have tried reducing the primary partition on the card to 32GB - all to no avail. Any suggestions?? The really annoying thing is that after the error EaseUS shows the entire drive formatted as a WINTOUSB drive!

A big change on version 1703 is that windows can now read multiple partitions on a normal flash drive.

Wintousb 3.5 will now install a uefi install on a standard flash drive - no longer needs special drives with hard disk bit enabled.

Cannot connect to wifi

The other day, I installed WinToUSB for the purpose of being able to use windows on other macs without bootcamp. The process was smooth, I put windows 10 on a partition of a large external hard drive that I had, and when I restarted it and opened up that copy of windows on my mac, everything worked pretty well. I installed the driver for the network adapter, and I could access google, etc.

However, when I plugged in the hard drive to another mac, I was unable to connect to the wifi. This mac is about as old as mine, so I thought I should see no difference, yet when I look under the devices for the network adapter, it tells me that it is unable to start, and so I can't access the internet on windows for that laptop. I tried a bunch of things, like un/reinstalling the driver, but nothing seems to work and google is quite sparse with information on this. If anyone has any answers, that would be great!

The first laptop, mine, is a mid-2014 macbook pro with bootcamp, which is what I used to get Windows on my hard drive
the second laptop is an early-2015 macbook pro, which is very similar, hence my confusion as to why it's not working.

Hi,

Windows installation from ISO file to USB is failing with the following error message:

Failed to run system API.(0x03F0001500A60000)

This happens right when it reaches 100%. I have tried twice.

Please see the attached log file.

Thanks.
